24 Time Management Tips for Affiliate Marketers

You should be wondering why 24 time management tips? Why not 25? Why is the number 24 so relevant in the month of February 2012? Well 2012 is a Leap Year, which means that during the month of February we are allotted an extra 24 hrs, specifically the day of February 29th. So Payday Loans Pay Big wanted to provide you, our affiliate/publisher, one time management tip to work on for each extra hour we will receive this year in hopes that you will make the other 8,760 count EVEN more.

Speaking of time management, let’s get to the tips!

  1. Make a daily or weekly "To Do" list:
This gets your tasks out of your head and off your mind so you can focus simply on the task at hand.
  2. Prioritize your "To Do" list
Mark tasks 1 thru 15 in the order of importance that they need to be completed. This will keep you from jumping around and doing things out of order.
  3. Dedicate a specific amount of time to specific tasks:
Make a weekly task list and assign a specific amount of time to each task. For example: 60 minutes for PPC campaigns, 30 minutes to research and brainstorm new content ideas, and 45 minutes to put together a content rich blog post based on a specific topic, etc.
  4. Don't lose track of time:
Don't get sucked into a task for longer than the time you have allotted. It's easy to get so wrapped up in a task that you run out of time to give another equally or more important task. So distribute your time and set calendar alarms to help you stick to the schedule unless there is an emergency that needs to be handled.
  5. Log your time:
Keep a running ledger of how much time you are dedicating to specific tasks. Be meticulous and honest. If you cannot measure your time, then you cannot improve how it is being spent.
  6. Take breaks:
Work in cycles, by either setting a timer or basing it on task completion. You will get less distracted and bored if you set small goals or time frames and then take breaks after reaching set checkpoints.
  7. Track your performance:
Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result. If you are not tracking your performance in conjunction with how much time you are expending to certain tasks, then you are driving your campaign blindly. You cannot expect your earning and performance to increase if you do not know what tasks are affecting it both positively and negatively.
  8. Document everything:
From your affiliate contacts and correspondence with each to the processes you follow for specific tasks or initiatives. Documentation can be a quick reference for you when you are put on the spot, or when you cannot quite remember the way you set up a certain campaign.
  9. Manage emails effectively:
Don't check your email too frequently; set specific times throughout the day to visit your inbox, so you are not using it as an excuse to ignore more important tasks.
  10. Outsource:
If building websites takes you way too long, outsource web design! If writing takes you way too long, outsource the writing! In this economy, there are people out there who will do nice work for cheap. Let them do that! There is no reason to be ashamed.
  11. Avoid micromanagement:
No one works effectively with someone standing over his or her shoulder or holding their hand through every task detail. You have outsourced your workload for a reason, so you can use YOUR time more wisely. So do your job and let your associates do theirs.
  12. Eliminate time wasters:
You know what they are, so just do it.
  13. Set goals:
Don't drive blind and don't just set overwhelming yearly and monthly goals. Set daily and weekly goals as well—both personal and professional. Meeting small goals repeatedly will add up BIG!
  14. Don't procrastinate:
Don't put off tomorrow even the smallest task that you are able to do in the here and now. Tomorrow has enough tasks, and you never know what might pop up. So complete things when you know they need to be completed. Don't put them off because it seems like you will have time later. Things are not always what they seem.
  15. Minimize your multitasking:
I know it sounds somewhat backwards, but studies have shown that multitasking actually makes tasks take 20% to 40% longer than they would have if you had just focused on each task separately.
  16. Don't bite off more than you can chew:
Taking on too many tasks at one time or expecting yourself to complete an unrealistic amount of work or meet an unrealistic goal is setting yourself up for failure. Be realistic about the amount of work you need to complete in a given time and pace yourself. You want quality campaigns that are reliable, not work that seems rushed and half thought out.
  17. Make time to think about your time:
Take the time to sit down and look at what parts of your affiliate marketing business are taking up the most time, and then see if those parts of your business are making you the most money. If there is not a strong correlation between time and money, a change should be in order.
  18. Utilize social media:
Specifically, Twitter. Aside from using it as a tool to connect and share ideas and experiences with other affiliate marketers, use Twitter to drive traffic to your site and initiatives. Referring to number 9 can also be helpful as with the Payday Loans Pay Big Affiliate Program; your Affiliate Manager will provide you with tweets to use for your specific site.
